SHOP OF SKILLS

The Shop of Skills on the 13th and 14th August will be held in our Marquee in Portland Street, they are absolutely free to attend and all the requirements will be provided by the tutors. We hope this will give people the opportunity to try a variety of stitch techniques and methods and perhaps

they can find a textile technique that may turn into an enjoyable hobby. Our aim is to create more Stitch enthusiastists ready for our 2018 Festival!

Machine Embroidery Session Sample

Rachel Barratt will be presenting her skills session on machine embroidery. Not the type of embroidery where you have a programme that will automatically sew an image on to a piece of fabric, here you use the sewing machine needle like a pen/pencil so that you create the picture as you make the needle move around. Rachel will supply templates that you can use or bring your own drawings or images. You will use the sewing machine to produce a line drawing and then can add colour. This workshop is available for four sessions altogether, so it can be done on both Saturday and Sunday and each session will have 3 participants.

Pieced Paper Patchwork with Judith Dursley

This workshop is available on Sunday 14th morning and afternoon and you will be shown how to make this lovely Christmas card.

Judith is an experienced patchworker and quilter as well as a tutor and is a member of Swansea Quilters. She will show you how to make this lovely Christmas card within the session, so you will have the skills to be able to complete many more by Christmas!

Judith has made this lovely quilt too.
